Government Contractors Must Now Post Notice Regarding NLRA

By June 23, 2010Articles

Effective June 21, 2010, the Department of Labor is now requiring all non-exempt federal contractors and subcontractors to post a new notice informing employees of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act (“NLRA”). All contractors with contracts in excess of $100,000.00 must post the NLRA notice in a conspicuous area, such as a lunch or break room. Employers with subcontracts of $10,000.00 or less are exempt from the posting requirement. An employer who has not received the poster may obtain one on-line from the Office of Labor-Management Standards at www.dol.gov/olm/compliance/EmployeeRightsPoster11x17_Final.pdf.

Following the filing of a complaint by a covered employee, the penalties for noncompliance with this posting requirement may include the cancellation, termination or suspension of the government contract.
